Greetings One and All,
I have been in Namibia for a month now and plans for the next stage of the Our HIV ABC program are progressing rapidly. We are also planning what happens after the current project which is exciting!
We've finalized the schedule for teacher-training workshops for January through the end of March with the Ministry of Education. We have 20 workshops in Oshikoto, Caprivi, Kunene and Ohangwena, the populous northern regions, which will bring our total number of schools reached to 292.
There was a rush to get things organized before the country shuts down for three weeks in December. The Ministry of Education goes home on December 15th through January. Even the daily national newspaper takes a few days off!
Geoffrey has joined me to work on reports, grant applications and organizing our May 13th fundraising event - all of which we hope to finish by the end of the week! Although we're missing Christmas carols and Amahl, and Mom's gingerbread cookies, a Christmas Day by the pool is sounding better each day in this hot office! The 'Merry Xmas' lights with their trees and snowflakes on Independence Avenue are totally bizarre.
I wish you each a Happy Hannukah, Merry Christmas, Happy Christmas, Joyeux Noel, Happy Boxing Day, Happy New Year...and all joyous celebrations!
Take care, and all the best,
Elizabeth
