Newsletter #7, January 6, 2006

Greetings one and all! I hope the New Year is filled with peace and calm, small acts of kindness and hope.

In Namibia, I am entering the New Year and a new part of Namibia at the same time. Our first scheduled workshop is on January the 16th in the Oshigambo circuit. I will be meeting with teachers from 10 schools, practically on the border with Angola.

Having been to this part of Namibia only once before, I have scant memories. I was there during my training as a WorldTeach volunteer. I remember only kind and open people, pervasive roaming goats and sheep, and heat like nothing else!

I am equipped with mosquito netting, anti-malarial drugs and a sense of humour. My car has been checked out, fixed up, and deemed fit for any challenge.

HAMU and the Ministry of Education are eager for the Our HIV ABC programme to continue. The Director and Head Education Officer were pleased with our Monitoring and Evaluation report from the Pilot workshops. I will be reporting to HAMU monthly with numbers of teachers trained and materials distributed.

Geoffrey Silver, who is managing the Sekolo website, will be sending emails and updating the website with a map of the workshops in Namibia. I hope to provide pcitures from each workshop to illustrate the places where Sekolo is training.

As always, thank you for you support and encouragement. Be well and keep in touch.

Elizabeth
